You keep telling yourself...
I need to get more done and get it done more efficiently.
I need to focus more on the tasks before me and reduce my distractions.
I need help with Executive Function issues because I can't keep track of things.
I need to figure out how to study and prepare for classes so I actually learn.
I need help getting and staying organized so I can reduce my anxiety.
I need to explore my passions and interests to figure out what I want to do with my career.
I need help with college search, preparation, and essay writing.
I need to get prepared for what I will experience when I get into a college classroom.
Professor Rubin was one of the first people I met in my college career that treated me like a whole person. He made me believe that I was more than a student, he showed me I am a person capable of inspiring positive change in the world around me. One day when I was navigating personal struggles and still trying to show up for my responsibilities, he simply named that feeling of exhaustion and created a safe space for me to catch my breath. That space made it possible for me to understand myself better and what I really wanted, so that I felt less overwhelmed, and could make a decision that aligned with the life I want to lead. I think about that day and that conversation a lot in moments when I am feeling pulled in many directions and I don't know where to start. Now, 7 years out of undergrad and 4 years out of law school, I strive everyday to have the same consideration for the people in my life that Professor Rubin showed me. I would not be thriving the way I am with a life that is the right size for me without the encouragement Professor Rubin gave me to be myself.
-Chris Marin, former student and forever fan
From the moment I walked into his class, Professor Rubin created an environment that felt welcoming, engaging, and motivating. He was charismatic and entertaining, but more importantly, he was an exceptional teacher who genuinely cared about whether his students were learning, not just memorizing. Professor Rubin didn’t just teach the fundamentals of business; he taught us how to think.
Through discussions on globalization, ethics, entrepreneurship, teamwork, and leadership, I learned how businesses function within a global and social context and how important ethical decision-making is in today’s world. His emphasis on collaboration, communication, and accountability pushed me outside my comfort zone and helped me grow not only as a student, but as an individual
As someone who entered college unsure of myself and my academic direction, Professor Rubin played a pivotal role in shaping my confidence and interest in business. His class laid the foundation for how I approach teamwork, problem-solving, and learning as a whole. I am incredibly grateful that he was my first introduction to business at Bryant University, and I truly believe his impact will stay with me throughout my academic and professional journey.
